HELP SAVE OUR ENDANGERED SPECIES

LEARN MORE

Bald EagleSince 1973, the Endangered Species Act has served as a safety net for species on the brink. Thanks to the Act, the bald eagle, the American alligator, the brown pelican, the peregrine falcon, black footed ferrets, California condors, and many other species have had their march toward extinction halted.

The Act was passed by overwhelming bipartisan majorities in the House of Representatives and the Senate. And it was a Republican president's signature, Richard Nixon, that made the Act law.

Reduced to its basic message, the Act says simply that the federal government must identify species threatened with extinction, identify habitat they need to survive, and help protect both. In doing so, the Act works to ensure the basic health of our natural ecosystems and protect the legacy of conservation we leave to our children and grandchildren.

Please take a moment to demonstrate your commitment to conserving endangered species by taking action today. Let your Representative know that you want our nation to continue to provide a safety net for endangered and threatened species and that you oppose efforts to roll back the Act's protections. Take action today.
